Several years ago, Bumgardner teamed up with the Renton Housing Authority to create an accessible and user friendly dumpster station. The original design featured a green roof for weather protection, a solar panel to aid exterior lighting, and a pulley system to facilitate easy opening of the receptacles. From January 12th until February 18th, the project is being featured in the AIA Open to All exhibit, which seeks to give visitors a visceral understanding of the critical role design plays in creating an environment of inclusivity.
